HIP-TEK websiteThe Helsinki Institute of Physics (HIP) is the national research institute for theoretical and experimental particle physics in Finland. The Institute has offices and laboratories at three locations in Finland (Espoo, Helsinki and Jyväskylä) and at CERN, Geneva. The institute has established a distinct Technology Programme (HIP-TEK) to leverage the basic research done at CERN, and transfer such knowledge back to Finnish industry. Currently, the Technology Programme has committed itself fully on the global Grid initiative. The group has participated EU FP 5 and 6 in CERN-led Grid projects, namely EU-DataGrid, EU-EGEE, and EU-EGEE II. In EGEE security team UH-HIP researchers are defining the EGEE security architecture and influencing the European Grid Policy Management (EUGridPMA) efforts, which have established a common pan-european trust-fabric for research Grids in Europe. For the year 2008, the Technology Programme has three focus areas Grid middleware, Grid applications, Cluster Computing, and Industrial collaboration. |
